I wish you guys would show more on how to make this because it was wonderful and I would love to make the top as a table runner for the spring. I still don't quite understand how it is made by "wrapping and gluing". I hope that you will consider making it a pattern (at least the top portion). Thanks. Zontee says: Hi Erin, what we mean by "wrapping and gluing" is that we have literally wrapped yarn around the legs and face of the table and glued it to the table. The grass is made as described above, using a loop fringe. If you are interested in making your own version, you could consider making pom-poms like our pom-pom rug pattern and use that as a basis for a similar looking piece. We have many new knit and crochet flower patterns in our StitchFinder, so you can make flowers to put in your runner too. Hope that helps.

On Martha’s Tuesday, 3/24/09 (EST) Knitting show. There was a short segment on knitting dog sweaters. It highlighte her (2) dogs wearing them. She stated on the show that the paterns would be posted on her site. I looked and found everything but the dog sweater patterns. Can you help me?

In my experience cottonease is great for shawls and lap robes. I also prefer cotton to acrylic, the only problem with a big project like the Tree of Life afghan is that cotton tends to be heavier than wool or acrylic so it can stretch out. On the other hand, cotton ease is a blend I believe, and not as heavy as plain cotton. I would be interested to see what others have to say about this, as I wouls love to make a full size afghan in cotton ease.

I want to knit the “Tree of Life” afghan for my daughter. I was wondering if it would be practical to make it with cotton ease yarn rather than the usual acrylic yarn used for afghans. I thought the cotton yarn would be much softer and would launder well. Please give me your opinion. I would appreciate it very much. I also make prayer shawls and lap robes as a ministry. Would that work well using cotton?
