I belong to a crochet/knit group at my church. I decided, when you first posted this, that I would do more than I normally do, so last month I donated 2 scarves and 2 baby blankets for them to either send to Applachia or our local women's shelter or homeless shelter. My goal now is to finish two prayer shawls by our September meeting on September 8th. Thanks for encouraging everyone to help those in need.

So I'm about halfway through my fifth washcloth for the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Didn't get quite as much done on vacation as I had hoped. However, I am determined to keep up the pace and finish them. It has been so rewarding. I just wish I could see the kids' faces. I do intend to put notes in the boxes, though.

I've made one six-inch square and one twelve-inch square for the Pine Ridge reservation, and since the Afghans for Afghans request just went out, I'll soon be starting on a baby blanket. Those are charities I regularly knit and crochet for, but it's nice being able to knit and crochet with a different group as well. This was a nice thing to work on for the knit/crochet-along.

I am now over halfway finished with my washcloths. As a bonus (again) I also am trying some new techniques. So I did my first cabling on one of the cloths. So geeked to be doing this. I wish I could see all the little faces as they open the boxes. Of course, to be fair, some might not be so little. The ages of the kids go into early to mid teens.

My mother finished her donations ( shawl and afghan). She loved it. Now that she's bitten by the crochet bug, she has begun a prayer shawl to donate to another cause. I have finished one baby afghan, 1/2 done with second and with the yarn left over, was able to make a 'baby blanket'. We hope to deliver these next week, to the AHRC organization that treats those with developmental disabilities; from baby's with Down's Syndrome to the elderly with Alzheimers.
Thank you for the opportunity to share a wonderful hobby and joy in order to bring comfort and joy to others.
