Critter Hats on the Streets of NYC

February 9th, 2010

A little while ago, I received a wonderful article from my friend Wolfie that made me smile. It was a feature in The New York Times on knit and crochet “critter” hats and accessories, spotted all over New York City. Being that critters are very near and dear to our hearts here at Lion Brand, I wanted to share it all with you. Click here to see the video version or click the photo above to enlarge.

Seeing these whimsical yarn creations can warm up even the coldest of New York days. If you love critter creations as much as we do, please feel free to share them with us. Click here to share photos of your creations on our Customer Gallery.

How do I find the pattern for an adult in the monkey design? Thank you

Zontee says: Hi Hannah, the items shown in The New York Times article are items spotted on people in the streets of New York City; neither the newspaper nor we would be able to tell you who made them, if they were handmade with a pattern or commercially made, or where to get the patterns.

BUT while we don’t have an adult monkey hat pattern on LionBrand.com, I bet a search on Google or on Ravelry (a great resource for knitters & crocheters with an extensive pattern database) will pull up some results for you. Hope that helps!
