Cute decor! I wanted to respond to a tip that came up today, about putting your yarn scraps out for nesting birds in the spring. I have seen on sites that have info about wild bird watching & bakyard environments for them, that birds feet tend to snag in fibers. Since they're not bright enough to work out how to free themselves, they simply fight to get loose and can wind up actually tearing off toes. One such website reccomended that yarn or string bits be chopped up so that they're very short, a half inch long at most. This makes sense to me: shorter bits would be less likely to be caught on both the bird's foot and something else. Please pass this idea along. Personally, I use my yarn scraps as stuffing for small toys.
