About Corinna

What do you do at Lion Brand?
I work as a freelance contract knitter and pattern checker. I also work in the office on occasion when needed. I love the family business feel of the company and really enjoy working with the staff.

When did you start working at Lion Brand?
I was introduced to Lion Brand through a friend’s recommendation in November of 2006. I run free knitting classes in New York City and write knitting pattern books, so she thought I would fit right in at Lion Brand. I haven’t thanked her enough for the introduction.

What do you do when you’re not working at Lion Brand?
I am a documentary film maker, knitting teacher, and co-founder of a DIY, environmentally conscious website www.happyhomesteader.com

What is your earliest yarn memory?
It may not be my very first, but one of my fondest, is stopping into a knitting shop when I was a freshman in high school, just to poke around, and after some simple chit chat, the woman who owned the shop sat me down and taught me how to knit on the spot. Never asked for money, or looked at the clock. From that day on I was a knitter, and it inspired me to teach the craft free of charge, which I have done on a weekly basis, for over 5 years now.

What kind of yarn-crafter are you? What do you like to make? Why do you knit and/or crochet?
I am very inspired by historic costume, and have always used vintage knitting patterns as my reference. the ingenuity of design and details especially in the 30’s and 40’s is really wonderful. I also knit many art projects, which lean towards the absurd, but I love the quality of yarn as a soft, huggable material which lends a fun, hands on quality to any art project. I try to make every art project I do accessible and fun, and people who see my work at shows can’t help but giggle.
