About Patty
What do you do at Lion Brand?
I am the Studio Director for the Lion Brand Yarn Studio, our retail store & education center in New York City. In addition to overseeing the Studios education department (overseeing eight staff teachers and a full lineup of master class teachers), I also teach 30 of the Studio’s 150 workshops.
When did you start working at Lion Brand?
August 2008.
What do you do when you’re not working at Lion Brand?
Knit, knit, and spin. In the non-fiber world, I love growing veggies on my roof top garden in Park Slope. I love Brooklyn and try to never leave it on my days off.
I also teach around the country at shows like Vogue Knitting Live and Knit 1 Crochet 2.
What is your earliest yarn memory?
Making a horrible looking Dr. Who scarf for my friend. My mother taught me how to cast on, knit & purl, but she couldn’t remember how to cast off. That scarf still sits somewhere on a pair of needles.
What kind of yarn-crafter are you? What do you like to make? Why do you knit and/or crochet?
I am a knitter & spinner. My spinning is not so great, but I’m getting better. My knitting is primarily sweaters and tops. I love making clothes for myself, and when my husband mentions it’s been a while…a sweater for him too.
