Every year we make New Year’s resolutions to improve our crafts, learn new skills, and teach others. We want to make things a little easier with our YouTube videos. We’ve created videos for basic knitting and crocheting, as well as knitting socks from the top down. My friend Sarah mentioned to me that she wanted to learn to crochet in the new year. Because she lives in Indiana and I am in New York, I couldn’t teach her in person. Instead, I directed her to our YouTube videos, and she’s already learned how to single crochet! Congratulations, Sarah.
What are my resolutions? I want to finish the sweater I’ve just started and organize my stash into labeled plastic bins. What are you looking forward to in the new year? Share your resolutions in the comments!

I was so nervous about knitting a pair of socks. I had a great book but had just heard so many things about how hard it was to turn the heel. After watching your videos on socks, I decided to jump in. Thank you thank you for posting those and giving me the courage to do it!

I have learned so much this year, and finally finished a lot of projects I started months ago. One of my resolutions I made a number of years back was to crochet a sweater, something I could wear that I made myself, something besides a scarf, and I did it! This year I’m going to try my hand at knitting, and refine my crocheting skills (maybe a new sweater or coat? We’ll see!). Happy New Year!

I’ve just recently picked up my needles again after a long hiatus and knit a shawl. This year I’d like to try to crochet and look forward to your tutorials.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Well, I am promissing myself to hide the threads after each project and not wait till I have 20 pounds and no more choice. Like right now. Wish me luck. :]
Happy new year, from my threaded hell!

My goals this year are to learn some new tecniques in crocheting. I have been crocheting for many years, but want to expand upon those skills. I plan on making as many chemo caps and prayer shawls as possible, as well as preemie caps for newborns.

My goal for the new year is to organize my craft room beofre my husband gets home from Iraq. Finish projects and not leave them as UFO’s and to expand my knitting and do more than just carves.

I just finished my first project on dpns, so I’d like to become more accomplished with them. Eventually I’d like to knit some socks, and tunisian crochet looks pretty interesting, too.

1) The main thing I want to do this year is learn Continental knitting; I think it will make ribbing and patterned knit/purl stitches quicker to do. 2) I want to figure out how to organize the patterns on my computer – maybe by category AND yarn weight – to make finding the right pattern easier. 3) I hope to knit at least one item for charity and one item for myself this year.

I’m looking forward to knitting more sweaters for ME. Knitting more lace, and more color work. I would also like to design something.

2010 was the year of baby sweaters (my first grand-niece!). I started knitting “in the round” with double-pointed needles and circular needles. I’m hoping to knit a pair of socks in 2011, in addition to finishing a crocheted afghan for my son and one for my nephew.

I want to learn to knit so that I can make socks for my daughter. She cannot find the patterns she wants, so she wants me to make her some. I am looking forward to learning to knit (I’m soooo not looking forward to all the frogging that I’ll be doing, but that’s how we learn, right?..lol).

I’d like to master the cable stitch and the heels of socks.
These are great challenges for me since I’m a lefthanded knitter, and not all directions can be made backwards.
I taught myself to knit and crochet, but some things are just harder to figure out.
I really wih there was a book just for lefties.

My New Years’ resolution is to use up the “leftovers” from my projects by knitting caps, scarves and mittens for charity. I knit constantly and there’s always an extra skein or so left over that goes back into my knitting stash. That stash has taken over an entire closet.
My family and I are warm enough. Time for others.

I, too, hace lots of leftovers. I was delighted to recently learn about a worthy use…”Warm Up America”. Check it out — http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/warmup.html

My resolution is to start a Knitting Ministry in my new church. I also want to teach beginners how to knit, and get them started on a new hobby.

I have been knitting for about 60 years..I knit or crochet anything from baby booties, baby jackets, blankets, sox, toys etc..My yarn stash is enormous,,,it doesnt matter how many things I knit, but I swear I have a Yarn Fairy who replenishes my scraps of yarn each time I make something..but I am determined to at least empty one shelf full of yarn this year..so wish me luck and Happy Knitting New Year to everyone…..
