KAL Introduction: The Woolspun Texture Stitch Cardigan

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The brand new Lion Brand Fall/Winter Style Guide was just unveiled on November 3 and we couldn’t be more excited to make all of the things! (Seriously. All of it.) There are 15 designs, which we broke down into two segments. Part One, the first 8 pattern kits, were released today (11/3) and the following 7 arrive on Friday (11/10).

Join The Make-Along!

To share our enthusiasm, we will be running two make-alongs for the collection; one crochet and one knit. Yours truly will be leading the the knit-along (KAL) for the Woolspun Texture Stitch Cardigan. The crochet-along (CAL) will be taking place in separate posts with other LB staffers. (Recommendation: even if you don’t crochet you should probably follow along and be entertained by their shenanigans.) Discussions for both the CAL and KAL can also be found in the Lion Brand group on Ravelry. We would love for you to follow along, make with us, share your comments, questions, joys, frustrations, and photos as we progress through the creating journey!

In The Know

Stop by weekly for progress updates as I knit through this garment. Progress posts and more real-time conversation with other KALers will be happening in the appropriate thread on the Ravelry Group page.

Gather Your Materials

If you would like to participate you can purchase a kit for the Woolspun Texture Stitch Cardigan in two colors; Charcoal or Linen. The original (shown in the completed photos on this page) is Linen. I will be knitting my version in Charcoal (shown in the swatch below).

Aside from yarn, you will also need stitch holders, a tapestry needle, measuring tape, and, of course, your knitting needles! The pattern calls for a 36″ length circular knitting needle in US 10.5 (6.5mm). Depending on your style of knitting you may find you require a smaller or larger size needle to meet the 10 stitches & 14 rows per inch in Star Stitch that the pattern recommends. More on gauge, swatching, and sizes will be discussed in the next post (check back on 11/8).

I know I’m very excited to get this design on my needles and I hope you are too! See you all next week ready with needles, yarn, and a ruler to check gauge.
