The 2018 Stitch N’ Pitch

This past week, members of the Lion Brand family attended the 2018 Stitch N’ Pitch game, which was hosted by the New York Mets. It’s always a fun evening of crafting & sportsmanship (and of course, ballpark snacks!). For a first-hand account of the fun from our beloved Senior VP, read on. Jack reminisces about past Stitch N’ Pitches, and celebrates all the wonderful aspects of crafting at a ball game.

2018 Stitch N’ Pitch

On August 21st I joined Rich, Mark, and Abby from our Marketing team at the Stitch N’ Pitch game hosted by the New York Mets at Citi Field. We are always thrilled to be involved in such a fun night. It is definitely something that is close to my heart as I have been a board member in the past; they even let me throw the first pitch at a Mets game back in 2015!

It was a great night for baseball. We had clear skies and a cool breeze, very uncharacteristic for August in New York! I love the Stitch N’ Pitch event because it brings knitters, crocheters, and yarn crafters together and we get to enjoy the outdoors as well as root for my favorite baseball team, the New York Mets. This year we played the San Francisco Giants and won! I felt like a kid again when I got to take a photo with Mr. Met.

Baseball and yarn crafting really are a perfect match in my book. There is a certain leisure to baseball that you don’t find in other team sports. The game isn’t timed and as most crafters can tell you, neither are knitting nor crochet sessions. If the game does pick up a little intensity, you can use your stitches to help you keep your cool.

I was so happy to see everyone who turned out for the game carrying around the Lion Brand tote bags we donated. They were perfect to store everyone’s WIPs. I even spotted more than a few crafters working with Lion Brand Yarns. Nothing could put a bigger smile on my face.
