It’s the end of July, which means we’re wrapping up our month of patterns for outdoor dining!
Today is the annual Lion Brand company barbecue where all of Lion Brand’s staff gathers at our NJ facilities to enjoy some fun in the sun, burgers, and camaraderie. In honor of the barbecue (and our month of cookout/picnic/grilling patterns), I’ve selected a couple of great beginner- and novice-friendly patterns that make for perfect hostess/chef gifts for any cookouts or parties you attend this summer.
Loom Woven Apron with PocketsA great apron is the perfect companion for any cookout chef. Use it to hold your secret seasoning bottles, spatulas, and thermometers. Plus, designed in Martha Stewart Crafts™ Cotton Hemp, this durable woven apron is machine-washable and will last for years to come. |

Crochet “4th of July” ApronDon’t let the name fool you; you can use this apron all summer long (and beyond)! Perfect for both men and women, this quick-to-crochet project is perfect for your grill-master. |
2 Knit & Crochet Pot Holders/Grill MittsWhether you’re grilling sausages, veggies, or even pizza, grill mitts will come in handy. These beginner-friendly patterns are perfect 1-ball, quick knit or crochet projects. |
|
3 Knit & Crochet Dish ClothsI love a bright dish cloth; they’re so cheerful and useful! They’re perfect for use as napkins, trivets, or–of course–for clean-up. When you buy the yarn for these patterns, you’ll have enough to make multiples. |
What have you been grilling, knitting, and crocheting, this summer? Leave a comment and let us know!

Thanks for sharing these fun summer project ideas! I love to grill and the grill mitt/potholders would be great to bring along camping too! 🙂

I’ve had the 4th of July apron in my “to do” pile since last summer! Maybe I’ll get it done by next year?!? There’s also another great apron, towel and dishcloth pattern from LB called Crochet Kitchen Aid Ensemble that I printed last week – I like this one because it’s a “full coverage” apron and I can be a messy cook! Here’s the link to the PDF if it doesn’t work you can find it on the LB website!
