I try to knit a gauge swatch and the needles called for make the stitches too big. I go down a size of needles and sometimes it is too small when I finish the swatch. Do you have any tips for getting the correct gauge? I want to do it as suggested but it is very frustrating.

Is there an easy way to figure out how to apply a particular stitch pattern to a large piece, like an afghan? I never know how many foundation stitches to make so I can get the right number to repeat the pattern (ie, stitch multiples of 8 3, as I see in some pattern books).

On your pattern #30038 Diagonal throw, it says to sew the strips together “invisibly”. I don’t know how to sew an invisible seam. Can you please demonstrate?

I would like some information on continental style knitting. I am taking a class on it now, but I really don’t understand a lot of things. For one thing, I can’t figure out how to do a purl stitch without having to move my whole hand to get the yarn around the needle. This slows down my work, and it would be nice to know if there is a better way.
