Learn French Knitting (aka Spool Knitting) with our easy photo tutorial! All you need is some scrap yarn (or a Lion Brand Bonbon®) and a French Knitter!
You will need:
Lion Brand Yarn of your choice (worsted weight or DK weight works best)
A French Knitter
Instructions:
Repeat Step 5 until the cord is as long as you would like, tugging on the tail occasionally to judge the length. When you are ready to bind off, cut the yarn and simply pull the end all the way through each loop as you go around all 4 pegs. You can also use a tapestry needle to weave the end through each loop.
Use French Knitting to embellish projects (like the beautiful rainbow cowl by Hélène Seners, pictured above) and look out for our easy charm bracelet tutorial coming soon! Share your favorite projects for French Knitting in the comments!

Does it matter which way around the French Knitter you go after putting on the slip knot? Also, shouldn’t it be that you repeat steps 4 and 5 to continue?
I made an icord with one of these tools many years ago and thought it would be a good way to introduce my daughter to knitting.

This tool is the modern version of one I learned on oh so many years ago…Then thread was on wooden spools and my Dad would simply put small headed nails on top…
