Hello, curvy girls! The knit-along is back again for another installment. This week, we get to bid adieu (for now) to the biggest piece of the puzzle: the back. That’s right! After last week’s decrease bonanza, we get to shape the shoulders and bind off the back piece.
How did the most recent section go? If you have any questions or need any help, please leave a comment here or post in our Ravelry group.
Now, let’s take a look at the next chunk of sweater.
We left off after finishing the decreases in the back, then working some straight stockinette. Now it’s time to start binding off for the armholes. After the initial bind-offs, you’ll do a bit more decreasing to get the right size hole. Then, when you’re working the neck, you’ll have to work with two balls of yarn at once, which isn’t too difficult. Just follow the directions exactly as written and it will be fine. Then you’ll do a few more staggered rows of binding off before you’re totally done with the back!
This is what my finished left armhole looked like.
And my completed back portion:
This might be a good time to stop and weave in any ends you have from joining skeins, so you don’t have to do all of them at the end. I usually leave the tails at the beginning and end to use when I’m sewing seams, but it’s your prerogative to do it however you want.
I don’t know about you, but I was excited to finish, because that means the rest of the pieces have the cables on them! I love having a little something interesting to keep me focused on the piece — plus, they’re each narrower, so they won’t take as long to make.
Next up, we’re going to cast on the left front and work up until the decreases start. See you in a week!
