This weekend marks both Christmas and the beginning of Hanukkah, so many of us will be spending a lot of time with family. Let’s be completely honest here — no matter how much you love your relatives, sometimes you need a little break. There’s nothing wrong with that — we all have to recharge, especially those who are more introverted.
Taking a little bit of time for self care is a really good idea, and there’s no better way to focus on you and reset your brain than knitting or crocheting. This is the perfect time to work on a fun, quick project. Smaller items like cowls, hats, and scarves are a great idea, since you can generally finish them in a weekend, and get that wonderful feeling of satisfaction that comes from seeing something through from beginning to end.
Of course, if you don’t need a new hat or scarf, or if you’re traveling for longer, you may want to use this weekend to get started on something a little bigger. A vest, sweater, or shawl might be just the thing.

I am so obsessed with the cozy bobble hood, it’s so ardorable. But I just started crocheting not long ago and I’m afraid I’m not at that level yet? I’ve only ever made a pair of socks, a pair of fingerless gloves and a couple potholders.
