May The 4th Be With You: 15 ‘Star Wars’ Projects

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… Some crafters got creative with ‘Star Wars’. Whether you’re a Padawan or a Jedi Master, you’re sure to love these 15 projects. From fun hats, to Leia amigurumi, to inspired garments, there’s something for everyone in the galaxy. Fear is the path to the dark side, so may the force be with you in your crafting!

15 ‘Star Wars’ Patterns

For Rebel Princesses

For Princess Leia lovers, old and young, here are some rebellious ideas. This Princess Leia Blankie by Stuff Susie Made is a free Ravelry pattern. If you’re crafting for a General rather than a Princess, you could spend a couple bucks for the Star Wars Princess Leia Keychain by Cait’s Crocheted Dolls pattern, also on Ravelry. Or visit Enchanted Ladybug’s website for this Crochet Princess Leia Coffee Cup Cozy, and use the force to keep your coffee warm.

You can also dress like your favorite intergalactic character with one of these three patterns below! Wear Princess Leia’s signature braid buns, battle the dark side in Rey’s cold-shoulder tunic, or cozy up in an Ewok-inspired poncho.

For Jedi Masters

Patience you must have to make Yodagurumi by Valerie Johnson, a free Ravelry pattern. But if you’d rather impersonate the master yourself, wear his memorable pointy ears! Knot Bad designed a Yoda Scoodie, because you can always dress for the job you want. However, you’re never too young to begin your training! Too precious for this galaxy is Shinah Chang’s Baby Yoda Knit Hat.

Friendly Droids

You’ll need to get a little technical, if you choose to cast on an R2D2 or crochet a BB8. Knit a Lifesize R2D2 Cozy (left) with Sarah Rudder’s pattern, or craft the R2D2 Can Cozy (right) by Robin Barnhill. Maybe you’re a fan of the newer droids, in which case this BB8 pattern by Hive with Happiness is just for you.

Head into Battle

It’s not a trap! You’ll need the proper gear to battle for the future of the galaxy, so suit up accordingly. Join forces with Darth Vader and the dark side by donning these Storm Trooper Mitts by Northbound Studio. Or fight on the side of light in these Rebel Alliance Wrist Warmers, by Ellen B. Wright. Whichever side you choose, you’ll need a weapon – visit All Free Crochet’s website for this Crocheted Lightsaber pattern.

Awaken Your Crafting Force

Do or not do, there is no try. Pick up your needles or crochet hook (the light sabers of the Yarniverse) and awaken your crafting Force. When it comes to saving the universe, you never know who’s going to prove a hero, so join in the fight! Let us know in the comments below if you have any special plans to celebrate ‘Star Wars day, and May the 4th be with you.

  • Links. I could only get the cold shoulder and ewok links to work. Everything else brought me back to this page. I really waned some of the patterns, all purchase with exception to the ewok poncho. I don’t have time to wait for links to work so please at least send appology notes to all the designers that they missed out on items sold. Thank you.
