I don’t use Instagram, but I’d like to wish you guys a Happy Anniversary! I love coming across the old Lion Brand ads and own the reproduction copy of your antique pattern book.
Honestly, I’d love to see more of your history, I understand at one point you had a fire in your offices in the city, but whatever you guys have I’d savor with relish!
Ally Carey
Hi, Emily – Thank you for your interest, especially in our black & white days! We do still have some offices in NYC, and you’ve given me an idea to interview some members of the company for their memories of earlier generations at work. Thank you for sharing, hopefully something new will come to fruition because of it!

First off….HAPPY 140th!!! Second…at just shy of age 62, I’ve been using Lion Brand yarns for close to 40 years. One of my favorites for the softest afghans is HOMESPUN ( – although a minor thing with it is the fuzz while using it….up my nose and in my eyes) —– just LOVE it !!!
Ally Carey
Thank you, Georgia! Wow, we are so happy & honored that you’ve been crafting with us. Thank you for choosing Lion Brand & Homespun! ๐
Janet Cole
I don’t do instagram and don’t want to. How else can I get the free patterns. Why do you have to make it so difficult?
Ally Carey
Hi, Janet – We’ll also be doing roundups of all the patterns in blog posts, to make them available for everyone who’s interested.
Cheryl Romano
Same start day as you, only not quite as long! Iรขโฌโขve been knitting for 57 years and crocheting for 51 years. Celebrating on the 10th too!
Ally Carey
Hi, Cheryl – Congrats to you! Can’t imagine all the wisdom you could share from your years of crafting. ๐

I have been using Lion Brand yarn for 50 years. I don’t really have a favorite, but I have used a lot of the Homespun. I am interested in trying the new Amazing Lace.
I also want to get the free pattern of the circular afghan. It looks beautiful.
Happy 140th Anniversaty.
Ally Carey
Hi, Vicky – Thank you so much for choosing Lion Brand, we love that we’ve been a part of your crafting. Let me do some research and see if I can find out what afghan they’ve photographed here, and I’ll try to get you a link to the pattern. And thank you for the Anniversary wishes! ๐

Love love Lion Brand yarns. I’ve been knitting for over 50 years. I love the yarns and the patterns (cannot tell you how many I’ve made). Always easy to understand and rework the patterns, depending on what my family has wanted over these many years.
