This is Marie from Underground Crafter. I shared a teaser about the Phoenix Wrap Crochet-a-Long last week. To recap, this is a 3-part project where you can make a beautiful rectangular shawl in 3 colors of Lion Brand Jeans (or Jeans Colors). I designed the Phoenix Wrap to meet the donation requirements to Sue Rock Originals Everyone, Inc., a local NYC charity that distributes handmade garments and wardrobe staples to domestic violence survivors. Your version of the Phoenix Wrap can be made to keep, to donate to Sue Rock Originals Everyone, Inc. or locally, to gift, or to sell.
You can get the first part of the Phoenix Wrap pattern here. You’ll start off by crocheting the center panel, which uses all three of your colors. I used Lion Brand Jeans in 150 Vintage, 108 Brand New, and 153 Stovepipe. You don’t need to fasten off when you make color changes and you can leave the yarn strands hanging on the side (at the right in the photo below)…
…because you will finish by working a border around the center panel that will cover over any yarn tails. In the next part of the Phoenix Wrap (on August 15), you’ll add the next panel onto this piece.
Next week, I’ll be sharing an interview with Sue Rock on Lion Brand’s blog so you can find out more about why her organization focuses on garments, bags, ponchos, and shawls, rather than winter accessories like hats and mittens. Until then, I wanted to share with you 13 more free crochet patterns in Lion Brand Jeans and Jeans Colors that would be perfect for donating to Sue Rock Originals Everyone, Inc.
Jeans and Jeans Colors are great yarns for wardrobe staples because they are super soft, so you can wear them next to your skin; easy to care for, so you can wash them frequently, if necessary; and both yarns are available in some great colors!
These patterns include garments, bags, and wraps. Photos are copyright the respective publisher and are used with permission.
These six free crochet patterns include a skirt and a dress and cardigans in different styles. Any one of these would make an ideal central piece for your wardrobe.

I like seeing all of your projects, but am always looking for KNITTING PROJECTS as I prefer to knit than Crochet. Will you be having any knitting in the near future?
