Add a touch of luxuriousness to projects when you craft with our new Touch of Luxe Yarn Collection. This new collection features three premium yarns: Touch of Alpaca, Touch of Mohair, and Touch of Merino. Each of these three yarns will give your crafting an elevated quality both in drape and texture. This also makes them ideal for any gifts you might be making; they’ll take your projects to the next level. If you need some ideas for how to get started with these three fabulous yarns, see our 9 free patterns below, or visit our YouTube video for more.
When you craft with Touch of Alpaca, you’ll relish the soft silkiness of this elegant yarn. Alpaca is quite similar to sheep’s wool, but it’s warmer, a bit softer, and plus it’s hypoallergenic. This blend (10% Alpaca, 90% Acrylic) maximizes these wonderful qualities while maintaining durability and washability for best use. With 16 gorgeous colors, you can achieve every look from soft pastels, to statement jewel tones, to subtle neutrals.
One of the loveliest aspects of our Touch of Alpaca Yarn is the drape, which you can really appreciate in the Bridgeport Cardigan (Crochet). The Dusty Blue color almost verges on periwinkle; it’s classic and feminine. The graduated ribbing along the front edges is flattering, and complemented by the ribbing at the wrists. Our Brooklyn Beret (Knit) is another classic look, with sweet seaming at the top that really finishes off the style. You’ll only need one skein to finish this project, and it’ll be a lovely addition to your rotation of winter accessories. Our Casey Sweater (Knit) is another garment that really shows off the drape of this yarn, as well as the detail in the stitching. You’ll also have the chance to practice all kinds of cables, which weave in different sizes through this pullover in gorgeous contrast.
Another new member of our Touch of Luxe Collection is Touch of Mohair. If you haven’t worked with mohair before, then you’re in for a treat! It’s sometimes referred to as the ‘diamond fiber’, because it has a halo of fibers that surround the yarn, which gives it a lustrous look. This yarn is a lofty CYC 3, which can be worked in a variety of gauges, no matter what project you’re making. This blend is 10% Mohair, 90% Acrylic, and has a generous 339yds per 100g ball.
You’ll love the pop of color in our Hulett Shawl (Crochet) pattern, which features subtle neutrals plus a vibrant orange. Especially if you’re wary of choosing statement accessories in one bold color, this is a perfect solution. Even though it’s a fairly simple pattern, the quality of the Touch of Mohair fiber will take it to the next level. Or check out our Cocoon Cowl (Knit) project. It’s a pop of color, but not overwhelming. Plus, the effect is softened by the delicate pattern creating with the stitches. It should come as no surprise that mohair is also luscious for garments, like our Easy Crochet Shrug. In this lighter taupe, you can really see the stitch definition that’s possible with Touch of Mohair.
Many crafters think of merino as the creme de la creme of wool, because of it’s springy stitches, cashmere feel, and exquisite drape. We created our Touch of Merino so our crafters could reap all these benefits, while still getting the durability and washability that’s key for many garments. This is another 90/10 blend, with 257yds in each 100g skein. You’ll see some of the fun & bold colors available in this yarn in the patterns below.
The Doreen Striped Pullover (Knit) features stripes in fun colors that give this pullover a vintage varsity vibe. You could pair it with jeans, or another brightly colored bottom (as pictured above). The pattern is fairly straightforward, so it would make a wonderful choice if you’re looking to cast on your first sweater. Another project that celebrates the brights of Touch of Merino is the Delilah Shawl (Knit). These sherbet-y hues are balanced by beautiful stitches that add some delicacy with their open weave. Now, the Memphis Top (Crochet) is totally different. This interesting topper has a surprisingly simple construction, and can be worn alone or as a layer.
