Set Up Row 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn.
Set Up Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc throughout), skip first sc, 1 dc in next 3 sc, *ch 2, skip next 2 sc, 1 dc in next 4 sc; rep from * to end. Turn.
Row 1: Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch 2), skip first dc, *skip next 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in ch-2 space, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2; rep from *, to end last repeat: skip last 2 dc, 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, *2 dc in ch-2 space, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc; rep from *, end 2 dc in last ch-2 space, 1 dc in 3rd ch of ch-5 turning ch. Turn.
Continue working rows 1 & 2 as desired to complete pattern.

In that photo of the final product, it seems that the upper left corner is curling upwards. Maybe not enough turning stitches for the edging – it looks like an awkward bunching up of stitches.
