Accessories are a great choice for holiday gift-making, because they look beautiful and make the recipient feel special, but they can also be done relatively quickly. And early November is a great time to get to work on them. You still have room to finish some projects for holiday gifts, without having to work at the very last minute. There’s no need to panic, because it isn’t quite crunch time yet, but you may want to get going soon so that you’re not frantically working the day before your gift-giving occasion.
Wristlets or fingerless gloves, like above, are one of many great choices for a quick gift. But hats, shawls, scarves, socks, mittens, and other accessories are also excellent choices. If you need to make a lot of presents, a simpler pattern is a good bet. However, if you are only crafting for a few people, you can choose something a tad more complex. As always, we have a huge library of patterns for both knit and crochet, with something for any skill level.
Thigh-high legwarmers or a cabled hat might feel a bit ambitious for a semi-fast gift, but if you’re up to the challenge, they’re gorgeous patterns. But some plain wristlets or mittens are also great if you’re more of a novice or have less time to work. Above all, make something you enjoy working on and the recipient will feel the care that went into every stitch.
Note — one of the patterns calls for Jiffy®, which has been discontinued. Most of our category 5 yarns should substitute in just fine, especially Wool-Ease® Chunky, Wool-Ease® Tonal, or Lion’s Pride® Woolspun®. Additionally, some colors of Sock-Ease™ are out of stock, but there are several others available.
