When my eldest niece married 2 years ago, she and my sister used individual cups and saucers purchased at antique stores to hold the centerpiece flowers at each table for the reception. They asked me to crochet doilies to go under each and left the colors and patterns totally up to me. My niece loved the doilies and has kept them along with the tea cups.

I’m knitting two sets of wedding monsters (from Rebecca Danger’s monster book). I finished one bride already. Her legs are striped with the bride’s colors, and the body is off white (color of bride’s dress). I sewed on a little veil and lace skirt. She’s super cute! Progress on her groom is swift and he’ll be decorated with a boutonniere in bride’s colors.

My mother knit wedding bells for decorations at my daughter’s reception, 100 pair that we put into ivy and tulle. We wondered what we would do with them all, but the guests wanted them as favors. Now that Mom has passed away, it is so special to come across them.

While it’s not a project that I crocheted or knitted, I did some embroidery for a friend’s wedding. One handkerchief is hand embroidered with a set of names as a memorial for her to carry down the aisle. As it is easy to get a stack of handkerchiefs, she also had me monogram several others as a gift to the mothers of the bride and groom.

My son is getting married in November. My future daughter in law asked me to knit a wedding shawl for her. I found a beautiful pattern and yarn and that is my project right now. It is going to be beautiful. She hasn’t seen the work in progress. Think I’m going to keep it “under wraps” until it is finished.
