Welcome to The Look for Less with Kristy Glass, where we will help you find affordable alternatives to our more luxurious yarns so you can still make the patterns you love.
If you covet of Lion Brand’s Loop Scarf pattern but it isn’t in your budget to use multiple skeins of both LB Collection® Superwash Merino and LB Collection® Silk Mohair, we can help. Substitute in Vanna’s Choice® and Vanna’s Complement for a beautiful and affordable alternative. These yarns make for a slightly different gauge, so watch the video above for tips on altering the pattern slightly, and look below for specifics.
LOOK FOR LESS LOOP SCARF SUGGESTED ALTERATION:
To make a chunkier version of this loop scarf, hold two strands together (Vanna’s Choice® and Vanna’s Complement), and using a size 13 needles, cast on 15. Follow the pattern as written, keeping in mind that after the increases, you will have 22 stitches instead of 47, because you started with a smaller amount of stitches. To achieve a colorway similar to the sample knit here in LB Collection®, use Vanna’s Choice® and Vanna’s Complement held together, replacing B/E with Eggplant, C/F with Fisherman and A/D with Kelly Green. Keep in mind, you can use any colorway to achieve a unique loop scarf! Repeat the pattern as many times as you would like. In the video, the pattern was repeated once, for a total of two pattern repeats, but the amount of yarn in the skeins is enough to repeat two or three more times.
