The Craft Yarn Council has declared October 14th “I Love Yarn Day”; I’m sure all of you wonderful crafters profess your love for yarn all of the time, but now, there is an “official” day we can all unite and do so. In celebration of this day, you are encouraged to knit/crochet in public (as if you don’t already do so!), do something for charity, wear a knit/crochet item or even teach someone how to knit or crochet. On this day, Lion Brand would like to thank all of you for your support; we love our yarn crafting community! We thought including a roundup of some Customer Gallery submissions would be very suitable for this celebration, go ahead and take a gander.
(Pattern information is only available if the customer noted pattern on their submission.)

Every day is I Love Yarn Day 😉
Donna C.
I did not know it was “I love yarn day” today. I guess I’ll go dive into my huge stash of yarn and hug it! I can’t say that I’d do anything else that’s extra special because I play with yarn every day. I knit, crochet and even tat with yarn. Yarn makes me happy :O) Oh, I know, I’ll go buy some more!

Where do you get your yarn tatting patterns?
Donna C.
I got a book from my library called The complete book of jiffy needle tatting Selma Morin and I got a set of 6 tatting needles on Ebay. The larger tatting needles work great for yarn that is smooth. I think the needle I’m using is size 2 and the yarn is sock weight.  I’m using this new red heart yarn called stardust and it works great since it isn’t too fuzzy! I wonder if Lion brand has yarns that are comparable and would work well for tatting.ÂÂ

Oh I just have to have the pattern for the Whimsical Owl! Can’t you talk to Yvonne Odegard and beg her, pretty please, to share it. My friend’s toddler would adore it!!

Holly, I know, that owl is so adorable! Unfortunately I do not have any contact info for Yvonne, but here are two owl patterns you can download for free from our site. You can modify them to make them more similar to the whimsical owl:

Halloween Owl Ornament: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/L0256AD.html?noImages=
Hope that helps!

I hadn’t logged in for a bit, so just saw your kind posts regarding my little Owl today.  ythank you so much, I’m glad you like it :)    I had made it to match some cute fabric that I had picked up.   My pattern notes are hand written (somewhere in my craft room…it’s been awhile) but I can get them typed up to share in the near future if you’d still like to have it.ÂÂ
I have to agree with the other posters….every day is “I love yarn day” for me too 😀
