Learn to Crochet a Ponytail Hat with Moogly!

Messy ponytail hats are one of the hottest trends in the online craftiverse right now, and our friend Tamara Kelly (a.k.a. Moogly) has a great pattern you can crochet quickly. It uses one skein of Homespun® yarn — which is 20% off until January 26 as part of our Made in the USA sale!

The Pick Your Pony beanie can be made for anyone ages 3 and up, so if you’ve got a long-locked kid in your life, this is a perfect project to make for them!

This ponytail beanie is slightly different than many of the others you’ll see online. Instead of a single hole at the top of the hat, requiring your hair to stay in the same place, this one has a nice big opening down the side. The two buttons on the brim mean you can adjust how tight or loose it is depending on your ‘do. No matter how high or low your pony, it will work with this hat!

Moogly uses Homespun® in the color Prairie, which gives the hat a lovely, semi-striped look. It would also look fantastic in one of the bright solid shades, or if you want a more unisex style, in a neutral like Midnight Stripes or Black. The soft, snuggly feel of Homespun® will make this a hat you never want to take off. And if you do take it off, your hair won’t suffer, since you can make it work with any style!
