We have recently started our “washcloth of the week” series in our newsletter, The Weekly Stitch. (If you don’t already get it, click here to get started signing up.) Just to give you an idea that washcloths can be an interesting and beautiful project, here are a two highly rated examples (click the photos to go to the patterns):
If you are visiting a friend during the summer, celebrating a birthday, anniversary or housewarming, a gift set that includes washcloths in a beautiful basket or box, accompanied by some luxurious soaps or bath products makes a thoughtful, personalized gift. Just select the colors that you think would work for your friend’s decor.
We would love to hear about any ideas that you have for gifting washcloths!

thanks for starting this. I need something small (and not wool!) to work on in these coming summer months. I appreciate your commitment to the fiber arts…….

My husband and I have been invited to a friend’s cottage for a weekend in a couple of weeks. I love to give hosts a little hand-made something as a token of my appreciation. After scouring the pattern section (and the wonderful project suggestion of a weekly washcloth) I think that the Sandy Shore Washcloth Set (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90442AD.html?noImages= ) will make a PERFECT thank you gift!!!

I gift a favorite washcloth with a bar of Dove Face Soap, and then fasten the cloth at the corners, around the soap box, with a lapel stick pin I make to match.

I love to make 3 or 4 crochet baby washcloths and wrap them around a box of Johnson’s baby bar soap, tied in a nice bow with an “It’s a Boy” or “It’s a Girl” ribbon. I buy lots of small cotton yarn in lots of colors a variations and have fun deciding what color combinations to use.

Hi Ilana. I really dig the Long Beach Washcloth. I have a bunch of cotton ease scraps that will work perfectly. Thanks!

I’m no knitter but washcloths are good practice material. I think I’ll try baby ones.
