If you haven’t had a chance to make it to our special retail store in New York City, the Lion Brand Yarn Studio, we’ve got a special treat for you! Two friends of ours are going to take you for a special virtual, pictorial tour!
Meet the Studio Squirrels! Sadie and Hazel (short for Hazelnut) show you all the fun things you can do at the Studio. Hazel tries yarns at the Sampling Wall, picks a pattern, gets a private lesson from Will, and even helps ring up customers at the register! Sadie winds a ball on the ball winder, shops around for various yarns and accessories, and learns to machine-knit. Follow Sadie and Hazel on their Studio adventure by clicking on the slideshow below!
And if you have a chance to visit the Studio, say hi to Sadie and Hazel! They will be part of our new window display until the fall! For information and hours about this special retail location go to the Lion Brand Yarn Studio website.

They are adorable. Is there a crochet pattern for them? I’ll get there someday.
Zontee says: Hi Pat, these squirrels were one-of-a-kind creations knit and felted especially for the Studio window installation, but a quick search on Ravelry yielded a pretty cute crochet squirrel pattern by Linda Potts (click orange link to view details). Hope that helps!

I hope to be traveling through NY in August and hope to stop by the studio! Hope to meet Sadie and Hazel in person! 🙂
Brandy
Is there a knit pattern for these little guys?? They’re adorable!! I’ve never felted before, but might be persuaded to try it for them!!
Zontee says: Hi Brandy, these squirrels were specially designed and knitted for the Studio window installation. Most items in the window are one-of-a-kind creations. However, Fiber Trends has a knit/felted squirrel pattern that’s pretty similar. Hope that helps!

I was totally blessed to visit the Lion Brand Studio on Friday. My husband and I were visiting from Missouri, and our first stop was your studio. Yes, my husband actually went to the studio with me. He knows that I have way too much yarn already, but that’s ok with him as he benefits from it too. I purchased some items from the shop – 2 Lion Brand yarn bags, 1 coffee mug (So much yarn, so little time), 2 magnets, and 1 ball of Lion Brand Cotton. I wish that I lived near the shop, so that I could visit more often. I’ll visit again next year when I travel east once again to see my family. Oh, by the way – is there a pattern for the blankets that were hanging on the racks? Loved the one the squirrels got into 🙂 Please let me know. Thanks again!
Zontee says: Hi Diane, glad you had a good time at the Studio and hope to see you again soon! The top blanket is from Lily Chin’s very cool book, Mosaic Magic, pages 6 to 8. Hope that helps!

Vicki
That was just too precious! Keep Hazel(nut) and Sadie stories coming!
Zontee says: Hi Vicki, the Studio Squirrels are working in that front window for the next few months, but after they’re done starring in the window, we’re hoping that they’ll travel with us on the road and share their stories here on the blog, so keep checking back!
Cheryl
Wish I could see the place for myself, but this is a good 2nd!!
Cheryl
Hey, how about a contest with the prize a trip to the studio? (hint, hint)

Just loved the tour, you squirrels are just to cute to be true.
Wish I could be there to see it myself, but I’m a long way away in the UK.
Still I enjoy getting the emails and newsletters.
Cheers everybody
Keith in the UK
Zontee says: Hi Keith, don’t forget that you can find Lion Brand yarns locally in the UK through our distributor, Banyan Tree Yarns Ltd.

Very cute and cheery! You guys and gals sure look like you have a lot of fun. That was a great way to visit, for a Canadian who isn’t likely ever to get to your store. Looking forward to more virtual tours.
