Yarn in Advertising

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

During my recent trips into the City, I have been surprised to find yarn related displays and advertisements. First, I was walking on the street and I saw this Citibank ad with a chunky knit blanket in the background. The blanket, inspired by the Hygge movement, gives the feeling of warmth and coziness.

Later in the week I was shopping and saw these two beautiful displays. I almost forgot all about shopping when they caught my eye! Not only do these displays look aesthetically attractive, they also serve as a reminder that it all starts with yarn. You couldn’t have your carpet, your hand or machine knit sweater, or those mittens keeping you warm if you don’t start with yarn.

It just goes to show you inspiration is everywhere, and so is yarn!

  • I want to make hats and scarves for the homeless, is there any place where I could could get donated yarn, or discontinued yarn at a good price?

  • I was buying yarn from good will web site and sending to knitters to do charity knitting–My hands won’t let me knit that much to do charity knitting anymore so I sent to those who could———————————————–good will wouldn;t help me with shipping so I gave it up–you could get some in expensive yarns from there if you are willing to pay the shipping??

try ravelry.com there are charity sites there??

    happy knitting

  • Have you checked with your local Senior Activity Center or a Local church? I know the Anchorage Senior Activity Center has sales to raise money and they usually have large amount of fabric, often including unfinished projects if you are willing to hunt through the piles, and pieces perfect for quilting.. They also have yarn on occasion. The Women’s Ministry at my church has a Craft group that meets twice a month and they receive items from estates sometimes, could be personal to a member or to the group.
    Good Hunting.
