Members of Team Lion Brand recently visited the Craft & Hobby Association Mega Show in California!
There, new yarns were shown, as well as new patterns … don’t worry, they’ll be available soon! Our brand ambassador, Shira Blumenthal served as MC for the Lion Brand Fashion show, where new designs are shown for the first time.
Feast your eyes on Vogue Knitting Live! We’re excited to be a part of this event once again, with an exciting new experience to share!
Join us at our Photo Booth, where you and friends can grab snapshots of your weekend together. You’ll also get to see one of our favorite Lion Brand Yarn Studio window displays up close and personal — the famed Fruit Stand!
As usual, we’ll be selling yarn at a 20% off discount, so those who haven’t gotten to experience the LB Collectionin person will be able to meet special yarns like Natural Wool (for those trendy, chunky stitches!) and beautiful Silk Chiffon. Look out for new favorites as well, including 24/7 Cotton, Scarfie, Color Clouds, and more.
In addition to selling great yarns, we’ll have catalogs and some free patterns available to take home with you.
This summer I crossed off a major dream from my bucket list when I threw out the first pitch at a Major League Baseball game for the New York Mets at Citi Field.
For the last eight years I’ve been very involved with Stitch ‘N’ Pitch. The event is a wonderful opportunity for the knitting and crochet community to come together and share their passions — stitching and baseball. Each summer, crafters fill the stands and bring their current projects with them. It’s magnificent to look out onto the manicured lawns of the playing field and around the stadium at the knitting and crochet enthusiasts enjoying their labor of love.
The New York Stitch ‘N’ Pitch group has orchestrated some very special events. One year, we yarn bombed Citi Field, and another we were added to the Guinness World Records for the most people crocheting at one time. In 2015, crafters were challenged to make squares with Lion Brand® yarn for Warm-Up America, a charity that I’m involved with which distributes handmade afghans to those in need.
At the end of the day, a good time was had by all; Lion Brand associates and their families, crafters who came from far and wide, our friends at AC Moore, and all the many designers and others from the knitting and crocheting community. I can’t wait till next year … but until then, LETS GO METS!
This Friday is a special day for dog lovers — it’s Take Your Dog to Work Day! If your place of work allows it, consider bringing along your pup to hang out for the day.
Here at Lion Brand Yarn, we’re pretty fond of dogs — two in particular, in fact!
Barkley and Harold are two sweet peas that belong to our Art Director, Janeen, and our Yarn Development Coordinator, Gail.
Both have modeled a few of our dog patterns — Barkley even has a pattern named after him! The two of them come into the office a couple of times of month, but are eager to celebrate officially on Take Your Dog to Work Day.
Gail shared that having Harold in the office is “a benefit for everyone. The dogs get a lot of attention, and it helps us with office camaraderie.”
Janeen seconded this, saying that having her dog, Barkley, around is therapeutic. “They change the energy,” she added.
Whether they’re headed to the office with you or not, keep your doggie stylish with these six patterns just for dogs!

NEW DATE – Sunday, August 30th, 11am – 4pm. See you there!
If you’re in New York City on Sunday, August 30th, drop by Union Square between 11am-4pm and add a small swatch of knitting or crochet to our mystery yarnbomb! We’ll be there with world-famous yarnbomber London Kaye Crochet, who is delightful in the latest episode of Tea With Shira #5:
You can make your swatch before hand if you like — our StitchFinder has some great knit and crochet patterns for small blocks, flowers and motifs — OR you can knit or crochet a little something on the spot. We’ll have lots of yarn, hooks and needles for you to take advantage of.
Some ideas from StitchFinder:
