Letters From Jack: London Kaye at AC Moore

Last month I had a very exciting opportunity to spend a Friday with our favorite yarn bomber, London Kaye. We launched the London Kaye collection of yarn, hooks and kits at select AC Moore Stores at their new store in downtown Philadelphia at Penn Center.

On Thursday night AC Moore held a special class to learn how to Crochet Outside the Lines from London herself. The next morning we all hit the streets! Just outside the Art Institute of Philadelphia London created one of her signature butterfly yarn graffiti pieces and took time to talk to the fascinated passersby.

Later we headed over to the AC Moore store on Broad Street which was fully decked out with London’s kit designs in addition to a few original pieces. That afternoon we did some raffles with giveaways, including spectacular handmade totes by London, similar to the one pictured below, filled with merchandise.

At lunchtime, people were coming in to have a chat with London and take photos with the art installation. She even did a demonstration on the spot proving that her kits are beginner-friendly and can be completed in one sitting.

I had a great day with London at AC Moore and I look forward to seeing her designs reimagined by customers! I will be keeping my eyes peeled during my travels.
