Want to lower your blood pressure? Try knitting. Yarn crafts have the power to trick you into being mindful, as well as regulating emotions, becoming a better listener, and more. Find your inner peace with yarn in hand! We’ve often detailed the many benefits of knitting here on our blog. Your Brain On Knitting

We also love to learn more about all the interesting ways the scientific community is using yarncrafting to express complicated ideas. Or, the ways researchers are using yarncrafting to solve problems! One perfect example is this installation by Neural Knitworks, which helps us visualize the inner-workings of our brains. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that it’s colorful and beautiful to look at! Brain science never seemed so tangible.

The Neural Knitworks team is at it again—National Science Week is returning to Australia in August, and already a team is getting together to assemble a yarn-crafted installation of neurons that demonstrate how the brain works.

Nostalgic Stitches

We’re seeing some fun homages to grunge knits of the 90s on the catwalk these days, including this 25th anniversary retrospective collection from Marc Jacobs. If you’re loving this crochet cardigan stitched with pure nostalgia, then you should definitely check out some of our fun openwork crochet cardigans:

And here are three knit cardis that capture a 90s vibe:

Crochet on the Red Carpet

In addition to a high-fashion yarncraft moment, we also love to see celebrities sporting fabulous knitwear. Like when ‘This Is Us’ star Mandy Moore hit the red carpet for Joni Mitchell’s 75th Birthday celebration in a stunning crochet dress!

This is definitely another nostalgic 90s moment, but if it means more celebrity knitwear sightings, we’re all about a resurgence. Are you a fan of 90s fashion? Let us know in the comments below if there’s a trend you’re glad to see back in rotation, or if there’s a look you’re dreading to see all over again.

A Mark of Remembrance

In our weekly Yarnbuzz installments, we also share astounding moments from the yarniverse, like this extraordinary gesture from crafters around the globe. In remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, crafters created tens of thousands of red poppies. This universal symbol of remembrance for the Great War was used for display in venues all over the world, and even prompted a thank you note from the Queen herself.
