  • Great resource but I’d have to say that the ultimate helpful resource on this topic is Dora Ohenstein’s fairly new book called Custom Crocheted Sweaters.

  • I usually play with the yarn size and the hook/needle size to get what I’m looking for. Maybe that’s why I prefer ponchos, shawls and vests to full-sleeve sweaters!!

  • […] Jen followed the pattern almost exactly (only substituting single crochets for slip stitches in the final row) and used two cones of Zpagetti yarn. Once you become comfortable with substituting yarns of different weights you might want to try it on garments as well. I suggest you start by reading our 5 Articles to Help You Make a Sweater That Fits & Flatters article. […]

  • I like sweaters, but the last time I made one, it was a cap sleeve, and made it too short to wear when my body decided to expand to a bigger size. Now I’m of the mind to do something, that will work for me as well as other women who are of my same body and size-type. Thanks for the info.

  • I just want the pattern to the sweater in the photo. Does anyone know where I can buy it?

  • This is great timing because I actually just started a vest as my first big project. I dont want to deal with sleeves. I’ve been practicing stitches with hats and scarves. So now I want to practice shaping something my size. Next will be using fine yarn for socks. My friends say its tedious so I’m holding off but I do plan to tackle it. Thanks for the tips.
