Thanksgiving is over, the leftover food is eaten, and the holiday season is in full swing! Many of you are probably now switching over from your Fall themed decor, to your winter/holiday themed decor – and as always, you should think of ways to incorporate some handmade elements.  I’ve rounded up some great knit, crochet and craft projects to get you thinking about holiday crafting.  These projects can be a fun activity to get the kids involved as well!

holiday greeting cards Making handmade holiday greeting cards can be a great family activity. Get the kids into embroidery by starting off with a small project like a card. You can even take this idea and go all out by creating yarn artwork to hang on your walls or fireplace mantle. This type of craft would also be perfect for crafting with a pack of Bonbons, which already come in an assortment of fun colors for you to choose from.

Crochet a holiday setting in no time! These place table settings crocheted in Vanna’s Glamour Sapphire and Platinum are perfect for Hanukkah dinners. If you’d like to switch the colors for a Christmas place setting, you can go the traditional route with Red Stone and Diamond, or – try colors like Garnet, Topaz and Lapis for a more modern, less traditional look.
Placemats are great woven projects to make on a loom, especially if you’re just learning to weave.  Woven in the New York White, Fort Worth Blue, and Cincinnati Red shades of super bulky Hometown USA, this project will weave up quickly and add a nice handmade element to your holiday dinners.
knit santa hat There’s plenty of time to get started on making Santa hats for the family; they’re so fun to wear in celebration of the holidays.  And, by making your own hat, you can add extra details such as embroidered letters to personalize each individual hat.  The pattern for the Santa hats knit in the soft and cozy Holiday Homespun on the left can be found here; click here for crochet Santa hats.
Holiday Tree Styrofoam triangular cones and balls can be found in your local craft store, and they’re extremely popular for decorating with yarn this time time of year.  This Holiday Tree Decoration was wrapped in the Wreath and Mistletoe colors of Holiday Homespun, giving the tree a nice texture, which really makes it stand out.  Play around with different color arrangements to see what you like best.

Also, check out the crochet Balsam Fir Decoration, and the Glitter Trees decoration.

These Poinsettias crocheted in the rich colors of Alpine Wool have great stitch definition and look beautiful.  These flowers are so versatile, you can string a few together for a garland, place some on the ends of sticks, place them in a bowl and more.

Check out this pattern for a crochet Poinsettia Ornament.
