A Stashbusting Fall Trend: Dobbs Ferry Cowl

Here at Lion Brand^®, we are always trying to stay on top of trends.  Recently, we featured a post about making your own luxe cowl for a fraction of the cost. SIGN ME UP!

I read the post and fell in love; I love that it can be a super bulky cowl or cowl and hood at the same time!  I am just so excited for winter, and I have made a goal that what I knit with for this season has to come from my stash. So, I thought I’d make my own chunky cowl!  I took all the Wool-Ease^® Thick & Quick^® I had (this is a great stash buster project!)  — they weren’t all the same colors but I made it work.

I used the pattern from the post, the Dobbs Ferry Cowl, which calls for 6 balls of Wool Ease^® Thick and Quick^® and held 3 strands of it together.  I also was using odds and ends that I had left over from previous projects.  You could do the same idea, taking any odds and ends of left over yarns and making a really funky one of kind cowl. My friend Darrin, who works in the Lion Brand Yarn Studio, does this all the time and his cowls turn out beautiful!

Don’t be afraid to get creative with color; I love when things like this cowl turn out awesome and unexpected!  Not to mention that Wool-Ease^® Thick & Quick^® is possibly one of my favorite yarns (Shhh, don’t tell the other yarns!) Now all I need it for it to be cold out so I can wear this amazing cowl!
