Afghans in August! 6 Knit & Crochet Patterns to Get You Ready for Fall

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

It’s the first day of August, and you’ve probably already seen some “Back to School” advertisements reminding you that the summer is slowly winding down.  While we still want to enjoy the last month or two of this wonderful weather, it’s also a perfect time to think about those bigger projects you may want to start to have ready for the cooler weather – like afghans.

I’ve rounded up a few afghan patterns that are warm and cozy, and also serve as great home decor projects. Make your friends jealous when they come over and see your beautiful handiwork!

  • I can’t wait to try some of these! I was just thinking of knitting up an afghan for my great-grandmother, too. The Autumn Lace is my favorite.

  • The Americana one is awesome! I really hate the sewing part though. I still have one from several years ago that is over half finished but due to all the weaving and sewing I got bored with it. I don’t start new projects because I have so many unfinished old ones. I need an intervention!

  • Although I love Lion Brand, have knit with it for years & enjoy your weekly blog, I wonder why your patterns always seem so simplistic? It is very nice to feature projects for new, inexperienced knitters, but with the extensive line of yarns you carry, including your luxury LB collection, I wish you would offer more complex shawls, sweaters & tops, for those of us who are more advanced & would like the challenge of making something no one else has. Frankly, I am disappointed every week, when I look @ your “new” paterns & see the same ideas time & again.
The only one included on this page with visual interest -that isn’t “run-of the-mill”or the “same old pattern rehashed” in a different yarn- is “Autumn Lace”.
I am in the process of making the “Lion Country Afghan”, but other than that, have not seen anything new & different in years. Why don’t you publish a line of beautiful, trendy clothes with design elements that encourage knitters to buy your non-mass market products & expand their knowledge? I have yet to see a project that makes me want to grab the directions & purchase something from the LB line at that moment, which I have been known to do. I know you have designers who are able to update the image of Lion Brand..
The other articles & features you present are well-done & they are what keep me coming back to this site week after week. Thank you!
