Knit and Crochet Show in Reno, NevadaLast month, a few members of the Lion Brand team and I had the pleasure of attending the Fall Knit and Crochet Show in Reno, Nevada. The show offers many classes as well as a marketplace, featuring unique and wonderful products from many different companies. We also gave out 500 goodie bags to people who signed up for classes, and it was great to see people walking around the show with them.

Lion Brand had a booth at the show, and it was so much fun for me to speak with the attendees and hear their feedback. We got to show them our new colors and new yarns and everyone especially loved the new Bonbons multi-packs. It was really exciting to see the expressions on their faces when they got to see it up close and personal. I told everyone that I thought they were so cute I put them in a candy dish in my house!

Hand-carved crochet (Lion Brand's booth)I really enjoyed being able to see the latest products, whether it be hand-carved crochet hooks that fit more ergonomically in your hand or hand-dyed yarns.

Supporting the Next Generation of Professionals

We also sponsored the Crochet Guild of America’s Professional Development Day, a day of workshops dedicated to educating people who want to get into the yarn industry. There were many wonderful speakers there as well. I enjoyed getting to hear and give advice to people who are as interested in yarn as I am.

Getting Inspired by Fashion

Sweater Fishermen's Wool® YarnOne of my favorite parts of the show was the Parade of Fashion: Exhibitor Fashion Show. It’s always great to see new fashions created with our yarns. I find that fashion shows are great inspiratoin, because people can write down all the projects they want to make right away–and pick up their supplies in the marketplace.

In addition to seeing designers’ creations at the event, we also get the opportunity to see what our customers are making. Susan L. from Portland, OR, stopped by to show us her sweater in Fishermen’s Wool (pictured right).

Finally, as a board member, I also had a lot of fun interacting with the Crochet Guild of America’s chapters and board members that attended. I’m really looking forward to next year’s shows in Indianapolis, IN and Charlotte, NC.

Hope to see you there!
