Learn Double Crochet with Moogly

Continuing our journey through the basic crochet stitches, it’s time for the double crochet! It is abbreviated as dc, and it if you’ve mastered the hdc this is just one small change. The double crochet stitch is one of the most popular stitches in crochet – it is the star of the V stitch as well as thousands of interesting and complex stitch patterns – and it makes lovely fabric all on its own as well.

Here’s how the double crochet stitch is made – and a few fabulous free patterns you can make using it!

In other words, to make the double crochet stitch: yarn over, insert your hook in the indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, and then yarn over and pull through the last two loops.

After you’ve practiced a bit, you’ll be ready to tackle these 10 free crochet patterns, all starring the double crochet stitch!
