There’s no need to sign up! Simply follow along with the blog posts at your own pace as you crochet your project, and feel free to share your comments and/or photos as you progress. The Votes Are In!

I live in a small Northern California mountain community. I have 3 grown children and 2 beautiful Grandchildren! I work full-time as an Administrative Assistant for a Forest Products Company and I love to spend my time with my family, crocheting and gardening.

  • I hope you are all as excited as I am to start this fun tunic!!! Don’t forget to chime in here and in the Ravelry group… I will be popping in to see what you have to say… so leave your questions and comments and let’s have some fun!!

  • I’ve never done a CAL, nor have I made anything more complicated than a baby blanket. But I’m excited about the challenge! Supplies are ordered.

    • Im so glad you are joining in… We will all be helping each other, and having fun!!

  • After being lucky enough to meet Shira this past week I am even happy to join this CAL. I ordered my yarn, same yarn but different colors.

    • Awesome!!! Glad to have you with me… I will be at CGOA in San Diego if anyone is going… Love to meet you all!!

  • I’m hoping to be able to do this; I have recently gotten out of the hospital and I will have to see if someone will take me to get the supplies. The sweater is lovely and I would like to make 4 for Christmas gifts!

    • Hope you are recovering quickly!! You can order online if that helps… Lion Brand will ship it right to your house!! Great Gift idea too!

  • I had already started this project & now am excited to follow along with all of you!

    • Great!!! So glad you are sticking with us and the fun we are about to have!

  • Going to attempt this! Looks like fun!

    • Great… We will be here to help!!

  • I am also joining this CAL. I did the Colorfully Modern Cardigan CAL in 2013 and it was a lot of fun. Everyone was so helpful. This tunic is really nice but I’ll be making the sleeves longer. I ordered a larger size so I don’t run out of yarn.

    • Great… So glad your with us!!

    • Giovanangela…I wanted to make this tunic, but had decided against it as the sleeves are too short. Your comment gives me hope that I, too, can lengthen the tunic’s sleeves. May I ask you for advice when the time comes to do the sleeves? Hoo Boy! I’m starting to get excited now! LOL.

      • Yes, we can help each other, and I’m sure that ElenaHunt will have advice too. Are you in the Ravelry group? There will be a lot of help there.
        I can’t wait to start.

  • Hi. I have also never tried this. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I have to wait until next week to order my kit.

    • Im glad your giving it a try… we will all be here to help each other

  • I’m Ghijsmom on Ravelry. I’ve mostly crocheted easy blankets and a couple of baby sweaters. I hope to learn to make an adult garment for my daughter. This pattern looks as though it will suit her, and I know she’ll get a lot of use out of it.

    • Sounds like a great gift for her!!

  • Elena, so happy for you and all of the others who will gain so much from your teaching. You go girl. Love and miss seeing you.

    • Thanks Kim… I miss you tons too… Next time I’m up your way we will have to get together!!

  • This is going to be my first CAL and I am excited.I have never done a project with sleeves so this will be a great way to learn. Lately I’ve been doing amigurumi. This is different and looking forward to this project.

    • I’m sure you will do great!!!!

  • This is my first CAL, and I’ve never made any pattern beyond Easy or Beginner. I’m looking forward to the challenge, but know I’ll need some help.

    • So glad you have joined in… A CAL is a perfect way to get the help you may need…

  • Hello Everyone! This will be my first CAL and my first big crochet project. I’m almost finished with the Glamour Jacket which was the 2015 Spring KAL for Lion Brand. That was quite an experience and the jacket is coming out great! Since I used the Onyx color for that project, I decided to change it up a bit for the tunic. I am using Grey Stone instead of the Onyx. I can’t wait to get started! 🙂

    • Love the colors!

    • Those colors look great together!!

  • Looking forward to crocheting this sweater. This will be my first crochet sweater. I’m waiting for the kit to arrive. Hoping to learn some new techniques.

    • Glad to have you with us

  • Before I order supplies, I have a quick question. I need a size 3x for myself. It looks like the pattern goes up 12 stitches for each increase in size. So since it only goes up to a 2x, would I just need to increase everything the same number of stitches to finish in a 3x? Thanks, love this sweater!

    • Kelly, It depends on your tension when you crochet. I would recommend doing a swatch first to see how many stitches you use per inch. Your swatch will tell you how much to increase for your size. I’m sure there will be a post about this soon.

    • Yes… Inge is right… the swatch will help. Your theory is a good one and may work… We will be talking about gauge and fit in the first week

  • Hi! My name is Maria, and although I’ve never participated in a CAL project before, I am an avid reader of your website. I love this pattern and I’m excited to get started!

    • Great to have you hear too!!! Glad you are joining in

      • Question about a swatch for this: their gauge says
        22sc = 4″ with the smallest of all 3 hooks used (E)
        and
        19sc = 4″ with the largest of the 3 hooks uses G).

How do we make this swatch? Don’t we need a 4X4 square? I’ve never seen gauge requirements like this, I’m confused.
Please explain so I can be sure my gauge is correct before Thursday!!!

  • Looking forward to it! 🙂

  • I’ll be joining in Philadelphia! Any other Philly area CAL participants? I’m still kind of a beginner and haven’t made anything like a sweater yet, so I hope I can keep up!

    • I live right outside Philly in Springfield, Delaware County. Where in Philly are you?

  • Looks like a fun project!

    • Yes it does…

  • I’m Barbara. Since the yarn is light weight and I live in SC, I’m,asking this for me.

  • Hi, y’all. This is my second CAL. I’m hoping this CAL will show me how to crochet something that fits properly. Since the yarn is lightweight and I live in South Carolina, I plan to make this for myself.

    • This is a good choice because it isnt too fitted… and it will help you get the hang of some shaping and sizing

  • Just saying I’m here, giving this a try, and hoping that it fits when I’m done. I have only tried one other garment for me, and even though I thought I had checked gauge properly, it ended up way too large for me. The only other true garment I have made was a little sweater for a granddaughter, and it had a forgiving fit, plus she will grow.

    • Great to have you… Crochet does grow as the project gets bigger… This should be a great project because it isnt to fitted

  • I’ve been wanting to graduate from throws and scarves to an actual garment piece, so I’m gonna try this! A little anxious, but I hope to get all the support I need here!

    • Glad to have you!

  • I’m gonna try to finish this project for myself. Live in Missouri I think this will be perfect for fall. When will you be posting new instructions?

    • We will be having the first post July 2nd I believe

  • I’ve never done a CAL either, but I’m excited to try it once. Hope it works out as lovely as the pic.

    • Glad to have you

  • When is this going to start? I am going on a trip for 2 1/2 weeks in July, and don’t want to be missing part of the project.

    • The first post is July 2nd and is about 5 Weeks long

  • Love this sweater and can’t wait to get started. I hope I can finish it.

  • I have a red-haired daughter named Sabrina, so I may need to do this!

  • Supplies received and instructions read through. Bought enough supplies to make one for myself and each of my two daughters in different colors. Never done a CAL before and am eager to get started.

    • Great… CAL’s are really fun!

  • Finally remembered to order the yarn! Looking forward to this project.

    • Whew… glad you did!

  • Hello!
I’m late- but I’m excited about participating in my very first CAL. I just put in my order for the size small kit. And wondering if it still might be too big? I’m sure there will be a point I can decrease accordingly?

  • Good morning, everyone. I just saw this and am intrigued. I don’t have the yarn so it may take a few days for me to get started.

  • I have ordered my supplies. I replaced the black with a light golden off white color with the same yarn. I hope it turns out to be just as beautiful.

  • I have done a crochet along once before and enjoyed the excitement of getting a new piece of the puzzle each time. I look forward to trying this one. I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
