Q: What’s your favorite Lion Brand yarn?
A: Come on. How am I supposed to pick ONE? My go-to yarn is Vanna’s Choice(R) because I can use it for all things from amigurumi to blankets. The variety of colors are awesome. Then if I want deep colors with a bit of heathering–Heartland! It’s so soft too! Now, my new favorite yarn is Softball. It’s a textured bulky and the COLORS are so modern and fresh!
Q: What brought you to yarn?
A: My daughter received a ‘Crochet your own scarf’ kit when she was 8 and wanted to learn. Now, I had to have someone teach me to knit a few years later. I love them both!
Q: Do you remember who taught you how to knit/crochet? Tell us a bit about how you learned.
A: When my daughter received the kit, I had to teach myself! I just used the small square piece of paper with simple instructions that taught me to chain and single crochet. I wanted to learn more! Needless to say, my daughter is now 20 and I haven’t stopped!
Q: What is your favorite thing to make?
A: I had to ask my husband because I make so many things– he says anything with yarn. HA! But really, wall hangings, hats and slippers. If I could add to that–I’d say totes and baby stuff! I love to make them all!
Q: Do you have a favorite stitch/pattern?
A: I like to take the basics and mix them to make interesting patterns. Give me a shell pattern or picots… Love it all!
Q: What’s the first project you finished?
A: Other than the scarf that my daughter and I made it was a tote. It was a round bag with a ruffle flower sewn on the front. I crocheted it so tightly that my hands hurt! I had a lot to learn at that time like tension and pacing myself… but it was awesome and I used it with pride!
Q: Why are you a fan of Lion Brand products?
A: The options are amazing. I can find anything with a variety of colors and I can get wool, acrylic, cotton –a mix of it all… Can’t beat the price point either!
Q: Any other notable stories/experiences with yarn you’d like to share?
A: One of my favorite things to do is to give handmade gifts. I make items all year long, store them and then for birthdays, baby showers and Christmas I am able to give gifts to my family members! I love to see them use the items and wear them all year! What I don’t giveaway I try to send to charity or Crochet for Cancer chapters. My husband and I really believe that handmade items can make a difference!

I am 85 years old. love to knit and crochet! Found a large knot while crocheting a baby blanket, worked 2 1/2 days trying to get knot out. I am very disappointed as I have purchasted 5 skein of this yarn (Pound of love) to have on hand and i am very aprenhensive about the yarn. I have cut the know out and now face getting glue to have the ends i cut the yarn put into the blanket without seeing them. Will i be reimbursed for the skein of yarn with one from Lion Brand.. Thank You.
