If you aren’t familiar with the Hat Not Hate campaign, Lion Brand Yarn Company launched our anti-bullying campaign in 2018. We encourage people to make, wear, and post handmade blue hats, adding #HatNotHate when sharing on social platforms. Blue hats are our symbol in the “craftivist” movement to eradicate bullying.
We are collecting 25,000 hats to distribute to schools around the country. The deadline for the blue hats is August 1st, so lets get to stitching!
You can send the blue hats to:
Hat Not Hate/ Lion Brand Yarn – 140 Kero rd. Carlstadt, NJ, 07072.
We have partnered with a wonderful anti-bullying organization called Box Out Bullying. For more information about them and how to donate to their organization click HERE.
Follow the Hat Not Hate journey on Facebook at Hat Not Hate and on Instagram @hat_not_hate For more information you can go to HatNotHate.org.

I would like to donate locally rather than have to mail them somewhere else is that accatable?
I did not find out about your hat request until late May. I think I over estimated my crochet speed so I will have extra yarn left over . I could make hats during the year (not to win a prize). Will you be doing the hats again next year? One of my precious granddaughters was bullied unmercifully in middle school so this is a project near to my heart, (She is fine now…. sorority president, cheer leader, college grad and working on her Masters in Speech Therapy.) Her family cared, rallied, counselled and supported her. Others are not so lucky. This bullying must be stopped. If the hat project will continue, I will crochet again next year. Please let me know and I will start blue hats again as soon as I finish my red preemie hats. Thank you. Johanna Peck
The current plan is for this to be a yearly campaign. Stay tuned after October of this year for plans for 2020!
