Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We’re excited to share our latest afghan knit kit with you! Fresh from our Fall/Winter Style Guide, the Textured Afghan will keep you – or that special someone – cozy all winter long. For the knitters who crave a big project to kick off their crafting in 2018, this afghan might be just the ticket.

Textured Afghan

The Textured Afghan

In Stitches

The afghan features a basketweave stitch. And it’s reversible, too! The stitch pattern looks different and equally lovely on both sides, which adds interest to the design. The stitch pattern looks more complicated than it actually is. After knitting a few repeats, you can have the pattern memorized and breeze through this project.

The Pattern

Worked in one piece, this afghan requires practically no finishing. Its rolled edging takes advantage of the natural curl of stockinette stitch, and is integrated into the patterning.  Just a few ends to weave in, and then the afghan is ready to gift! And since it’s worked with super bulky yarn on a large needle, it makes for a fairly quick knit, too.

The Yarn

Wool-Ease Thick and Quick in the color Fisherman delivers the classic simplicity of cream. The plied yarn offers great stitch definition, so the patterning reads clearly and your stitches pop. We love the springy, cushy quality of the yarn in this afghan. It’s soft to the touch, and since it’s a wool blend, the afghan is quite warm!

  • Why do I have to keep chasing the wool to 6 different pages and still can not find what size needles are used. That should be right p there with yardage and I still don’t know what size needles I need. I quit looking.

  • I agree completely! I can get the yarn locally, but frequently have to hunt for needles. List the needle size with the yarn!

  • The needles are size 13 or 9mm
