Simple Knit Chevron

The simple knit chevron pattern below is sized to be part of the Try This Stitch Sampler Afghan. (sampler squares measure approximately 10″ x 10″) However, it can be worked using any yarn and needles to suit your needs. Use it as a panel or allover pattern (10-st repeat + 1).

Sampler Afghan Materials

Yarn: New Basic 175 (Turquoise)
Needles: US 8 (5mm) needles

Cast on 39 (or a multiple of 10 sts plus 1 & any border stitches)
Row 1 (RS): K5, *k4, yo, ssk, k4; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 2 and all WS rows: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 3: K5, *k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k3; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 5: K5, *k1, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k2; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 7: K5, *k2tog, yo, k5, yo, ssk, k1; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 9: K4, k2tog, *yo, k7, yo, SK2P; rep from *, to last 6 sts. ssk, k4.
Row 10: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4.
Rep rows 1–10. (For sample afghan square work rows 1-10 a total of 6 times)

Abbreviations

k = knit
k2tog = knit 2 together
p = purl
SK2P = Slip 1, k2tog, pass sl st over
WS = wrong side
RS = right side
ssk = slip, slip, knit
