Two New Designs: Knit or Crochet! Cardigans w/Face-Framing Collar in Heartland

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Today we’re featuring two garments from our new Fall/Winter Style Guide – knit and crochet versions of a unique and breezy cardigan. (Designs are both available as kits or paid pattern downloads.) The long lines of these sleeveless cardigans make for easy layering.

Cardigan with Collar Crochet

We love the dramatic collar on these cardigans! The oversized collar adds interest and warmth, while framing the face beautifully. Plus it provides a variety of styling options. Bundle up and keep cozy by overlapping the collar’s edges and keeping them closed with a shawl pin. Or you can double the collar back and wear it open, which brings the eye up and flatters the face.

These cardigans are worked in Heartland® yarn, an easy-care, sensationally soft, premium acrylic. The knit Easy Cardigan uses Crater Lake, a gorgeous heathered color that mixes grey and slate blue together. The versatile shade is easy to wear! It looks good when paired with black, grey, denim, contrasting brights, and more.

The knitted variation of this cardigan is mostly stockinette stitch. Makes for a great project to work on while catching up on your favorite show! The collar and hem feature a textured rib that looks good on both sides of the fabric – so you can wear the collar in a variety of ways and not worry which side is facing out.

The crochet Cardigan with Collar is worked in Heartland®’s Grand Canyon. This heathered light taupe is a mix of beige and grey, with lots of character. The blend of warm and cool tones gives depth to the color and makes the stitchwork pop.

The crochet variation of this cardigan features a simple, repetitive stitch – primarily double crochet. The fabric almost looks woven. The yarn shows off the crochet stitches well and highlights the allover textural interest of the design. Plus it’s super easy to make!

The cardigans are worked in pieces with minimal shaping. This makes for a portable project that’s easy to take along with you. After seaming the back and front pieces together, the collar is worked from stitches picked up around the neck edge of the cardigan.

  • Cardigans with Homeland Yarn, Beautiful neutral color, very feminine with a drape that conceals.. I am a larger frame and would feel very comfortable, warn and attractive in this gorgeous hand made sweater.
