A Look at Wool-Ease: a Classic Worsted-Weight, Easy-Care Yarn + 9 Fan-Favorite Patterns

I just came back from Stitches Midwest, a knit/crochet convention put together by XRX Inc. (home of Knitter’s Magazine) – and had a great time talking with different people who love to yarncraft.   While talking to folks in our Lion Brand booth, I realized that Wool-Ease, our traditional worsted weight wool blend yarn is very popular amongst both knitters and crocheters, and for good reason!

Wool-Ease is a great garment yarn which can be machine washed and dried; making it the perfect match for children’s clothes. I personally love the stitch definition and functionality of  Wool-Ease.  Cables work up beautifully, and a scarf or hat knit/crochet in this yarn will definitely keep you warm. Below, I’ve shared some of our popular Wool-Ease patterns in sweaters, afghans and accessories.

Pullovers and Cardigans are perfect projects for Wool-Ease.  Below our Lion Brand pattern image, you’ll also find images of a submitted project from Lion Brand users who used the patterns for their garments.

Afghans
are a great way to stay warm and cozy indoors, or even outdoors as you enjoy the brisk air with a hot drink.  The Wool-Ease color palette has many options so you can make projects bright and bold, or subtle and timeless.

Accessories like cowls, hats and scarves become necessities for protection from the cold winter weather.  Wool-Ease looks great whether it’s used alone, mixed with another wool-blend, or used for color work.

  • So lovely… such great options!

  • Don’t
forget socks! I teach sock construction with Wool-Ease, 40 stitches on a
size 5 needle to make a comfy anklet and wear them most days myself.
Throw them in the washer and dryer, wear them
with Klogs and I’m a happy camper. A guy I taught just loves them.

I’m making a pair right now with the Woods print – already have 2 pair
. I make 3 pair from 2 skeins – economical as well! Love ’em!!

    • Thanks for sharing Megan’s Mom, that’s great to know!

  • I’ve been coveting that Ladylike sweater for some time now. Unfortunately crochet patterns confuse me. Perhaps it would be a good candidate for a CAL?

    • I like your way of thinking Grace! We’ll keep that in mind for the future – thanks.

  • I make Slipper Socks with Wool Ease. I can make a pair in a day…size 13 DPNs. Toes and cuff in one color and sock in another. Keeps your tootsies warm … Great gift.

  • Havent used Wool-Ease before, but just bought some to make a scarf! Im excited to try it!

  • I made the Entrelac Beret last fall using those exact colors. It turned out beautifully!! I made several others in different colors for friends and family. They loved them!!! 🙂
