What’s Your Favorite LBY Yarn?

Wool Ease Thick & Quick!

What brought you to yarn (knitting/crochet)?

Ever since I was a little girl, I was creative and the women around me encouraged me to explore and play with all sorts of mediums. My aunt had a bag full of yarn scraps and the first time I reached my hand in that bag, I was hooked.

Do you remember who taught you how to knit/crochet? Tell us a bit about how you learned.

I used to watch my mom and grandma as they crocheted and the quick movement of their hands and the way they created beautiful things was like magic to me. Being a stubborn 10 year old, I wouldn’t let anyone teach me. I grabbed a pattern, clumsily followed the photo tutorials, and started making…and just haven’t stopped.

What is your favorite thing to make?

I love quick projects, fashion accessories and home decor, mostly. When I can sit down in the evening and finish a project before bed, it’s been a good day.

Do you have a favorite stitch/pattern?

I love simple stitches that create great texture, like the cross-stitch, bobbles, and basketweave. I also love the linen stitch for its simplicity and drape.

What’s the first project you finished?

Wow, about 45 years ago – the first project I finished was a simple dishcloth. I was so proud when my mom actually used it.

Why are you a fan of LBY products?

I love that Lion Brand offers such a great variety of products. No matter the project, I can always find the perfect Lion Brand yarn. With all the fiber options, the yarn weights, and colors to choose from, they make picking yarn so much fun.

Any other stories/experiences with yarn you’d like to share?

I’m so thrilled that I’ve had the opportunity to take my love of yarn and turn it into a full-time business. Working with yarn has allowed me to provide for my family, help others do the same, and give back to my community. When I got my Master’s in Counseling, I never would have believed that, someday, when someone asked what I did for a living, I’d get to say, “I play with yarn!”

Thanks Lion Brand for this and excellent yarn. Thanks Pam for being open a d always sharing your wisdom.

  • My what interesting facts on how someone learned to crochet or knit. I am a self taught crocheter. But in the 1960’s in high school we had a class that taught classmates how to knit. So I learned to knit in high school. Today the high school students do not have that luxury of learning.. I have knitted sweaters, slippers and etc for my children and grandchildren. I have a library of books that have crochet and knit patterns that I look at for inspiration of a favorite pasttime of mine…….knitting and crocheting.

  • My sister was 10 years older than me and she taught me how to knit argyle socks. I must have been about 10. I then taught my girlfriend.

  • Does anyone know how to contact someone at Lion Brand? I am looking for a discount on bulk purchase.
