Welcome back! We’re half way through the CAL this week, now that we’ve gotten our start and worked out the kinks it’s time for the rows to start flying by. After working through the raglan, the body of the sweater follows suit. As you go you can try it on just as you did before and work to your desired length.
The next place where we will do something new is the sleeves. Here we will shift from working back and forth to working in the round. Here is a visual guide for starting the sleeve.
Rnd 1: From RS, and continuing with color in sequence with larger hook, join yarn in center of underarm foundation ch, ch 3 (counts as first dc)
work 2 (4, 3, 5, 5, 7) dc evenly spaced to ch-2 sp, 2 dc in ch-2 sp
dc in next 34 (34, 38, 38, 42, 42) dc of sleeve to next ch-2 sp, 2 dc in ch-2 sp, work 3 (5, 5, 7, 6, 8) dc evenly spaced to beg of rnd Note: If you made any adjustments in the raglan section here is where it will affect the numbers. At this point do as many double crochets as there are spaces for until you come to the next chain 2 space and make note of the number so you can keep track.
sl st to top of beg ch to join, place marker for beg of rnd (Here is a picture of the color change on an inside row.)
Change colors as you slip stitch into the beginning chain. At this point I am no longer chaining with both colors as this will now be visible in the finished garment. Instead you may loosely strand the colors up the inside of the sleeve whenever you do the slip stitch in the beginning chain. You will also be continuing to turn your work every 2 rows. When working in the round I like to think of it as working around the outside then working around the inside.
After spending so long on the body the sleeves go by pretty quickly. Just a little bit more to go and we’re almost done! Just in time for the cool autumn weather! Lots of you have been sharing pictures of your progress in the ravelry group and everybody’s work looks wonderful. Keep up the good work!

Hey everyone, just a note on the post, the last picture is the one that shows the color change on the inside row.

I have a question. I am doing the long sleeve version of the sweater (thank you for the link). The directions after rnd one in the sleeve: Working in rounds and turning work after every two rounds, work in Stripe pattern for two more rounds.
Does this mean I work 4 rows and then the decrease row or six rows and then the decrease row? Not sure although I am thinking that a round would be after a turn so both colors would be worked thus making it 6 rows and three turns. 4 rows or six rows of color and then the decrease round? Confusing here.
The help here has been great – I have started sweaters but with all the help I know this one will get finished!
